On the afternoon of January 31st, our school held the Spring Festival party for foreign students in the staff canteen. The school leaders and more than 60 foreign students from Namibia, Angola and Nigeria gathered together to welcome the Spring Festival.

The "Year of China" cultural experience activity was launched before the party. Li Juan from the School of Art and Design taught foreign students how to cut Windows. Miss Li introduced the meaning of paper-cut, a traditional Chinese handicraft, and demonstrated it on the spot. Eager to have a try, the students cut all kinds of beautiful window cuts and pasted them on the windows and doors of the dormitory to highlight the festive atmosphere.

At the party, Qin Zhilin, Party Secretary of the university, expressed his greetings in English to the overseas students, wishing them success in their studies to become a bridge of friendship between China and Namibia. The representative of international students Fillipus Nelson Mandela and Pieterse Rezinia Leandra expressed their heartfelt thanks to the leaders and teachers of Nantong Vocational Uiversity and wished them a happy New Year. Chen Mansheng, Deputy Secretary, and Dai Shiming, Deputy Principal, gave the international students new year gifts with local features.

Despite the cold outside, the staff canteen was warm and lively. The abundant food, such as spring rolls, chopped chilli fish heads, curry potatoes and steaks, are to everybody’s taste. The students sang and danced to express their anticipation and joy for the lunar New Year.

This Spring Festival party brought the atmosphere of the New Year, also let the overseas students in China feel the warmth of home.
