President Ma Chengrong Led a Delegation to Namibia

From January 14 to 16, local time, President Ma Chengrong led a 6-member delegation from Nantong Vocational University to pay a friendly visit to the Ministry of Higher Education of Namibia, Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF), Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST), and Namibian Institute of Mining Technology (NIMT). During the visit, President Ma Chengrong called on the Chinese ambassador to Namibia.

On the morning of June 14, the delegation visited NSFAF and the Ministry of Higher Education. On behalf of NSFAF, the chief operating officer Percy and the chief financial officer James welcomed the delegation and thanked the university for the education and assistance provided to the two groups of Namibian students. The delegation introduced the study and life of the students and the two parties exchanged views with each other on the recruitment and the graduation work in 2019. In the Ministry of Higher Education, six people, including Mundia, director of the department of research and innovation, Siririka, director of the department of vocational education and training, and Kaperu, a senior education official, held talks with the delegation.

On the afternoon of the 14th, the delegation visited the University of Science and Technology (NUST).The delegation was warmly received by Tjama, executive vice President of the university, and Samuel, Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The delegation introduced the basic situation of the school and put forward the idea of cooperation between the two parties. The two sides discussed the feasibility, method and path of cooperative training of bachelor of engineering and technology, reached partial consensus, decided to arrange special personnel for docking and discussing the specific cooperation plan.

On the 15th, the delegation drove to the small town of Swakopmund which is more than 400 kilometers away from the capital. School executive President Eckhart and President Ma Chengrong respectively introduced the school running condition. Both sides agreed that the two schools have strong complementarities in school level, professional setting and other aspects, and huge space for cooperation. They agreed to further promote inter-school cooperation and exchange. After the meeting, President Bussel accompanied the delegation to visit the school's training and teaching base and observed the theoretical teaching.

On the morning of the 16th, Chinese ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yimin received the delegation in the embassy. Mr. Ma Chengrong briefed ambassador Zhang on the training of Namibian students and the achievements of the visit. Ambassador Zhang highly recognized and thanked our university for its contribution to the friendly exchanges between China and Namibia. He said that China has friendly relations with Namibia and the cooperation is gradually deepening. As a high-level vocational institute in Jiangsu province, the university should seize the opportunity, plan carefully and carry out deeper and broader cooperation with Namibia in skilled personnel training and teacher education.

Due to the tight schedule and heavy task of the visit, the delegation successfully completed the task of the visit by overcoming the difficulties of temperature difference, time difference and fatigue, which further deepened the cooperation and exchanges between our school and Namibia, and laid a solid foundation for improving the international level of our school and promoting the construction of high-level vocational institutions in our province.
