2019  "Journey to Find Their Roots in China" Winter Camp in Nantong Opened in NTVU

 

On the morning of December 24, 2019 overseas Chinese youth "Journey to Find Their Roots in China" winter camp opening ceremony was held in the lecture hall of school library. 66 overseas Chinese youth friends and 7 team leaders will start a 10-day journey of finding roots, learning and culture, which is full of the local characteristics of Nantong.

 

Gong Lin, vice chairman of The Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province, Huang Weicheng, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Nantong Municipal People's Congress, Wu Lei, Vice Minister of the Cultural Exchange Department of The Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province, Cao Boping, member of the Party Group of Nantong Overseas Chinese Federation and assistant to the chairman, Hao Changfeng, member of the Party Group of Nantong Overseas Chinese Federation and vice chairman, and Qiang Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee of The University attended the ceremony. The organization Department of the Party Committee of the university (United Front Work Department), responsible persons of the Institute of International Cooperative Education, teachers and volunteer representatives of college students, campers and leaders of the teachers all participated in the opening ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wu Yajun, secretary and chairman of Nantong Overseas Chinese Federation.

In his speech, Huang Weicheng, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Nantong Municipal People's Congress, extended warm welcome and cordial greetings to overseas Chinese young friends and teachers who have traveled thousands of miles to China, Jiangsu and Nantong. I hope that overseas Chinese teenagers will cherish this rare opportunity to learn, follow the arrangement and management, exercise their abilities and increase their talents, and become participants, witnesses and pioneers in enhancing the friendly exchanges between China and other countries!

 

Qiang Yi, secretary of the Party Committee of the university, in his speech, extended the most sincere welcome to all the leaders and campers who have traveled thousands of miles to ask their ancestors for roots. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the leaders and guests who care about and support the internationalization of our school. After introducing the basic information of the school, Secretary Qiang with "Read Chinese books, travel China road, have Chinese heart" three sentences to encourage everyone.

After the camp, the leaders and guests took a group photo with all the campers.

 

In order to welcome the young campers, the organizer held a unique artistic performance.

It is reported that this winter camp is the first time for "China's journey to search for roots" winter camp into Nantong, lasting for 10 days. Under the guidance of professional teachers, campers will learn and experience traditional Chinese culture courses, learn abacus, calligraphy and painting, learn and experience Chinese martial arts, dumpling making and other folk customs.
